Hispanic Entrepreneur, Local Franchise Owner of CertaPro Painters, Launches Restocking Campaign for the Maryland Food Bank
Lorena Streb, local business owner of CertaPro Painters, has developed a program to attempt to restock the Maryland Food Bank's pantry by reaching out to her customer base. She arranged for two Baltimore area Sherwin Williams paint stores, Hunt Valley and Timonium, to be the drop-off point for donations of canned goods. The CertaPro SOUPerBowl canned food drive runs from February 1 through April 1, 2009.
Baltimore, MD, February 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Immediately following the Superbowl, the local owners of a Baltimore-based CertaPro Painters developed a campaign to collect canned goods to benefit the Maryland Food Bank. CertaPro Painters is distributing flyers to their customers throughout Baltimore County in a program they dubbed “SOUPerBowl.”
“I was concerned to hear that canned produce donations were down,” Ms. Streb said. “In El Salvador, where I'm from, having a social conscience is very important. With today's tough economic climate, we're hearing of increasing numbers of people being dependent on the local food bank. It becomes the responsibility of those of us in the community to do everything within our power to help restock that resource. We're fortunate to have the means to reach out to our loyal customer base and enlist their help.”
Customers are asked to drop their canned donations in the specially marked containers at the Sherwin Williams stores in Timonium and Hunt Valley. Food will be collected through the end of March.
CertaPro Painters is the nation's largest residential painting company, with over 300 independently owned franchises. For more information, or to schedule an interview with Lorena Streb, a local Baltimore owner, please call 410-592-6006 or email Lstreb@certapro.com
The Maryland Food Bank supplies food to hungry Marylanders by gathering excess and donated grocery products, and then distributing them to charitable food providers.
