Santa Ana, CA, February 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Celebrity interior designer David-Michael Madigan, owner of david-michael design, inc. based in Santa Ana, California and an accomplished artist, television personality and entrepreneur, recently completed the historic renovation and preservation of his 4th residence within the community of Floral Park, a picturesque neighborhood of more than 600 vintage homes located in Santa Ana, California.
Located in the northern tip of Santa Ana, Floral Park is a community of more than 600 period homes built from the 1920’s through the 1950’s. Recognized as one of Orange County’s most established neighborhoods and recipient of the Neighborhoods, USA ‘2005 Neighborhood of the Year Award’ and ‘The Best of Orange County #1 Neighborhood for 2007’, Floral Park is a community representative of a bygone era. Once blanketed by orange, avocado and walnut groves, the neighborhood is home to over 36 Registered Historical Landmarks and hosts the annual “Floral Park Home and Garden Tour” that attracts thousands of visitors each year.
David-Michael’s 4th historical restoration and renovation in Floral Park was recently completed on a private residence located on Riverside Drive, The private residence features classic Monterey Colonial Revival architecture, and was originally constructed back in 1933 for Dr. and Mrs. Windsor Hollingsworth and their children. In later years, the home provided sanctuary for The Henderson Family and Mr. Frank A. Henderson, who was the then-Superintendent of the Santa Ana School District and President of the Orange Rotary Club, along with several other prominent organizations. Mr. Henderson was greatly responsible for the establishment of Santa Ana College back in the early 20th century.
The three-month long intensive restoration of the entire Riverside Drive home involved a complete landscaping overhaul of both the front and rear grounds, with the addition of lush landscaping perfect for relaxing next to the property’s pool and adjacent Santiago Creek, a large-scale restoration of the spacious farmhouse-style kitchen, and an intensive, detailed renovation of the home’s three full baths to restore each bathroom’s original 1930’s styling complete with fixtures and tile work reminiscent of the period. Additional renovation and restoration work involved the addition of period lighting throughout the home, the reconfiguration of the former maid’s quarters to a generous family room space complete with a media center and surround sound, restoration of the home’s original wood flooring, and several months of specialized interior and exterior paint and moulding work to beautify the residence and accentuate the home’s Monterey Colonial architectural style.
Restoration of this amazing residence on Riverside Drive was truly a “labor of love,” said David-Michael. “The home had great character, history and spirit, and really just needed someone who appreciated it’s architecture and had the knowledge of the efforts and details that would be required to restore it to its’ original, vintage condition.
