London, United Kingdom, February 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- WBX Launches WBX Mobile.
WBX, the World Bet Exchange, today is excited to launch WBX Mobile.
WBX Mobile is a specially adapted version of WBX for all mobile devices equipped with internet browsers including Apple iPhone® and BlackBerry®. It offers the same value prices and betting opportunities as the main WBX website whilst 'on the go'.
WBX Mobile information is accessible via the homepage.
A free prize draw is open to all new and existing members of WBX. Place a bet that is matched via WBX Mobile before 22:00 GMT on March 1st 2009 and qualify for a chance to win a BlackBerry Storm or an Apple iPhone.
WBX Members have wagered over £1,000,000,000 (£1 billion) against each other since the exchange was launched in November 2006 and includes over £500 million wagered in the last year alone. These are impressive amounts for a new exchange.
WBX has one of the most competitive commission rate structures amongst the major bet exchanges which is just one of the reasons why WBX was voted winner of the 2007 Netprophet Award for Best Exchange and was also recognized with a Silver Award at Gambling Online Magazine's annual Readers' Poll ceremony.
A recent study examined the betting activity of all WBX members. The amount of commission payable under Betfair’s commission structure was calculated for this betting activity and compared with the actual commission paid by WBX members.
It was found that WBX Members would have paid 35% more commission at Betfair.
What's more, winning Betfair customers are subject to a Premium Charge which could increase total charges to up to 20% of their gross profits.
WBX believes that such a policy is against the spirit of a person to person bet exchange. By positioning itself against its customers, Betfair has taken a step backwards towards a bookmaker business model. In contrast, WBX does not have a financial interest in the outcome of its Members’ bets and it does not penalise its Members no matter how skilled or lucky they are.
The prices on WBX have been set exclusively by our Members and are typically better than those available from traditional bookmakers, often by more than 20%. A recent review by the World Online Sports Bookmakers (WOSB) gave WBX top marks in their Odds Payout Ratings. WOSB is an independent body and their rating is based on a review consisting of more than 150,000 observations.
WBX acknowledges that the safety of its Members’ funds is of paramount importance. Members’ funds have always been ring-fenced in separate bank accounts that are held within a separate company WBX Members Funds Limited that does not otherwise trade. These funds are held subject to a trust deed and are subject to independent verification by WBX's auditors on a quarterly basis. WBX is the only bet exchange which opens its books to independent audit, the results of which are published on its website for all to see.
Licensed and regulated in the UK by the Gambling Commission, WBX has made a significant contribution of over £1 million to British Horse Racing, responsible gambling initiatives and other statutory contributions.
Iain Turner, PR Manager for WBX.COM said, “We are delighted to announce the launch of WBX Mobile. In the past few months we have received a number of enquiries from our Members requesting this service.
It is another significant improvement for WBX which follows hot on the heels of a recent site upgrade. Members now have access to dutching tools and a fully customisable market view that allows them to view markets in a simplified Sportsbook view. WBX Members are now also able to deposit and withdraw via Moneybookers in addition to NETeller, debit and credit cards, bank transfer and cheque.
We are delighted with how things are progressing at WBX and the launch of WBX Mobile is just the start of the improvements and innovations for 2009. This promises to be an exciting year for WBX and for our Members but I can’t say too much more about other improvements we are going to be making as our competitors might be reading!”
