Fort Myers, FL, February 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Offshore Sailing School announced today a new value-packed bonding experience for families up to six at savings of more than 60%. This five-day Florida getaway is available on new bookings for select weeks now through September 27 at the all new Hawk’s Cay Resort on Duck Key, half-way down the Florida Keys.
“Up to six can now Learn to Sail for the price of two,” explains Offshore Sailing School’s CEO and President, Doris Colgate. “When families spend a fun-filled vacation sharing tasks aboard, learning how to safely and confidently harness the wind while gaining a skill that lasts a lifetime, there’s a great sense of achievement all around.”
Offshore’s signature 5-day Learn to Sail course provides comprehensive training on award-winning Colgate 26 sailboats – choice of the U.S. Coast Guard and Naval Academies, Maine Maritime and other professional training institutions. With a huge cockpit, small cabin below to stow gear while sailing, and plenty of go-fast features for exciting learning, the Colgate 26 was designed for training and recreational sailing by Offshore’s founder and chairman, Steve Colgate. At course end, the entire family spends time sailing without the instructor aboard, achieving Colgate Sailing Certification at the Day Sailing level.
“Sailing is an eco-friendly lifetime activity that brings families together to work side-by-side as a team,” says Colgate. Normally tuitions for this course are $1295 per person with accommodations extra. The entire package for a family of up to six staying in a Bungalow villa at Hawk’s Cay starts at $4,070 in a two-bedroom Conch Villa. Packages include accommodations, taxes and instruction for two adults and up to four offspring (ages 7-17).
The course is taught in half-day sessions with time to enjoy other activities at the resort. This family-friendly destination is all about the water and the “green” outdoors. Amenities include a sandy beach lagoon, Camp Hawk for 5-12 year olds, The Cove for Tweens, an on-site dolphin experience, beautiful pools, scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing, tennis, bicycling and a complete spa and fitness center. Several dining experiences indoor and out, and open air gathering places, are perfect for relaxing in the setting sun. Sailing is on the Atlantic Ocean where dolphins are seen playing in sailboats’ wakes.
Offshore Sailing School, founded by Steve Colgate in 1964, has seven locations in Florida, the Caribbean, New Jersey and New York. More than 100,000 adults and a lot of youngsters have completed our courses and go on to enjoy sailing for life, explains Colgate. Course levels range from Learn to Sail to advanced cruising and racing.
“Sailing is an activity that brings families together. When we see youngsters and teens get excited about sailing, we know we’ve established a meaningful family connection to a lifetime outdoor activity,” Colgate says. With Mother’s Day and Father’s Day not that far away, Colgate suggests there’s no better gift for Mom and Dad than learning to sail a sleek sailboat while sharing a special family learning experience on the water.
Bookings for the “Kids and Teens Sail Free” program must be made prior to May 1, 2009 for select course start dates prior to September 30, 2009. For more information, call 800-221-4326 Monday through Friday, 8:30-5:30 EST or visit http://www.offshoresailing.com.
