South Florida Not-for Profit Organization Fosters Strong Partnership with Woman Inc Crisis Center to Help Victims of Domestic Violence in Jamaica
West Palm Beach, FL, February 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Caribbean Music Alliance, Inc. a South Florida Not-For-Profit Organization dedicated to fighting crime & poverty in the Caribbean has teamed up with twenty-five year old Kingston based Woman Inc Crisis Center, to provide help and support to the women in Jamaica who are victims of Domestic Violence.
The CMA, Inc. has taken a unique approach in meeting its pledge of providing assistance to the victims of poverty and crime in the inner city communities of the Caribbean. The focal point of the organization’s strategy is placed on the rich heritage of Caribbean music. As such, the CMA works with Caribbean artists to market their talent and distribute their music to the main stream markets in North America. This approach not only provides the opportunity for income for the Artists, but it also provides an opportunity for the organization to focus on its fund raising initiatives by partnering with the artists in its network to self-produce a variety of music festivals and tours. In addition, the strategic approach enables the CMA to offer up to sixty percent of its event profits, as charitable gifts and donations to various organizations such as the Woman Inc Crisis Center in Jamaica.
The mission that the Woman Inc charted twenty-five years ago of, strengthening the position of Jamaican Women through providing Support Services, Public Education and Lobbying for Legislative Changes, is strongly supported by the CMA Inc. “We are so very excited about our partnership with the Woman Inc and their Crisis Center”, stated CMA Founder and President, Rosemarie Mitchell. “Our goals and objectives can only be met by fostering strategic alliances with other organizations with similar visions and passions for making our world a safer and better place for all people”, Ms Mitchell continued stating. Per the Woman Inc 2007-2008 annual report, their mission having been clearly defined long ago has not changed over the recent year merely due to the fact that:
“The reported acts of violence against women in Jamaica continue; oftentimes embedded with the alarming murder rate, and committed at a worrying level of intensity and brutality. As such, the Crisis Center and shelter services continue to be very much in demand”.
The CMA, Inc. is currently working on two major projects with a number of acclaimed Caribbean Artists; one of which is a fifteen months U.S. benefit concert tour titled: “One Love Unity Fest” featuring: Judy Mowatt, Dobby Dobson, Norris Weir, Wendy Mitchell and Isiah Mentor. The CMA has generously committed a percentage of all proceeds (after applicable expenses), from this tour to the Woman Inc Crisis Center of Jamaica.
