Socius and Xavier University Partner to Educate Business Students Using Microsoft Dynamics Technologies
Xavier University’s Williams College of Business and Socius team up through the Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance program to provide accountancy students with hands-on experiential learning through the use of Microsoft Dynamics software.
Cincinnati, OH, February 23, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Xavier University’s Williams College of Business and Socius, Microsoft’s 2008 Partner of the Year for Microsoft Dynamics GP, have teamed up through the Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance program to provide accountancy students with hands-on experiential learning through the use of Microsoft Dynamics software.
The Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance program provides Xavier University, and hundreds of others worldwide, with access to Microsoft Dynamics software, training, and networking opportunities to share with other professors and business people using Microsoft Dynamics both in the classroom and in their workplaces. In addition it connects universities, like Xavier, that are using Microsoft Dynamics as a teaching tool with Microsoft Partners, like Socius, that implement and support Microsoft Dynamics software solutions in the business environment.
The partnership between Socius and Xavier has been strengthened substantially from the involvement of Socius’ Director of Consulting Services, Hersch Patel, who is on the Xavier Accountancy Advisory Board. As the Chair of the Board’s Technology Sub-Committee, Patel is tasked with finding ways to introduce relevant technology into the accountancy curriculum and promote the importance of IT education to business students.
Socius has also taken a very active role with Xavier business students. Patel has been a guest presenter in the classroom, providing the students with true life examples of how their client companies are leveraging accounting technology and other IT resources to support and grow their businesses. In addition, the relationship between Xavier and Socius has resulted in job opportunities for students. Socius has hired two Xavier MBA students in the past year. Additionally, Patel mentored an undergraduate student who is now working as an intern for a Socius client, LPK, Inc.
“By touching students early in their college education, we can help them recognize the importance of technology in supporting business growth,” said Patel. “As a professional services organization, Socius’ future lies in the hands of business people. If those people are coming out of college and entering the local business community equipped with a knowledge and appreciation for accounting and business technology, then our future is even brighter.”
“Both Socius and Xavier University are leaders in their respective fields and through their collaboration , the students at Xavier go beyond theory and experience unique hands-on learning. The Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance provides tools that can enhance the curriculum, and when the Microsoft Dynamics partners get involved and share real-world experiences and opportunities with the students, it can really help prepare them to enter the business world,” states Janelle Daugherty, Program Manager for the Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance.
