Wendy Walls Mixed Media Art Class 2009 Programme Announced
Registrations are now open for Wendy Walls' Exploring Mixed Media Art Classes in 2009.
Auckland, New Zealand, February 25, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Registrations are now open for Wendy Walls' Exploring Mixed Media Art Classes in 2009. Wendy Walls, an acclaimed Franklin mixed media painter, is offering a creative new programme of mixed media art classes and weekend workshops at her Ridge Farm Studio south of Auckland to inspire and motivate people of all ages and levels.
Wendy's mixed media paintings feature in private collections around the world. She was named Franklin Artist of the Year in 2007, and in 2008 she won the Contemporary Award at the Franklin Arts Festival. A selection of Wendy's paintings recently were on display at the esteemed New Zealand Steel Gallery in Pukekohe.
Wendy has studied in the United States under such notable artists as Mary Todd Beam, Pat Dews and Mary Alice Braukmann. Wendy's syllabus draws on this international experience and her students will be encouraged to experiment with the latest mixed media techniques and materials to create unique textures and colours that liberate them from established methods. Gels, fluid acrylics and collage are just some of the exciting media to be introduced.
A teacher by profession, Wendy taught art and interior design for many years before establishing herself as an artist. All sectors of the community will enjoy Wendy's mixed media art classes, from retirees looking for a hobby to school children on holiday, from beginner painters wanting to 'give it a go' to experienced artists seeking fresh inspiration.
Wendy says, “I find it immensely rewarding to introduce all ages and stages to a form of painting that brings out everyone's creativity and particular skills. Many people think that creativity is only for artists and inventors, and they put themselves down as not creative, which becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy. They lack the confidence to try anything new. My classes are fun and inspirational and I encourage my students to be risk takers with no fear of failure. I like to think that some of my students who arrive doubting their creativity might enter the Franklin Arts Festival next year, or exhibit their works at the New Zealand Steel Gallery and other leading galleries.”
