Steve and Doris Colgate Release Newest Book, Fast Track to Sailing
Fort Myers, FL, February 26, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Steve and Doris Colgate, owner/operators of Offshore Sailing School, have just released their newest book titled "Fast Track to Sailing – Learn to Sail in Three Days." The book was developed to help achieve the ultimate goal of many sailors – to go cruising. Fast Track to Sailing is the culmination of years of development through Offshore Sailing School's introductory sailing program. This easy to read, colorful stand-alone book was written for the new sailor with big dreams and little time.
Steve Colgate founded Offshore Sailing School in 1964. He has participated in two America's Cup trials, twenty Newport-Bermuda races, seven Fastnet Races, the Pan Am Games, the Olympics and six transatlantic races.
Doris Colgate is president of Offshore Sailing School and founder of the National Women's Sailing Association. In 2003, US SAILING awarded the Colgates the Timothea Larr Trophy in recognition of their outstanding leadership and excellence in sailing education.
Fast Track to Sailing constitutes the first half of the Colgates' famous Fast Track to Cruising® program and contains all the techniques and understanding one needs for daysailing alone or with crew. It teaches the basics, including the language of sailing, how it applies to maneuvers aboard, and the theory and functions that make sailboat handling easy. The knowledge and methods in the book provide the insight and understanding to build sailing confidence and skills. The reader learns not just how, but why. And the text and illustrations provide everything one needs to know to be a competent sailor.
"We heartily recommend Fast Track to Sailing to anyone interested in taking the first steps to a new and wonderful lifestyle," quoted Lex Raas, President of TUI Marine, the company that owns The Moorings and Sunsail yacht charter companies. "If you learn with a good foundation, you will enjoy sailing forever, and the rewards are incredible. Sailing is one of the most environmentally responsible sports you can ever aspire to; its carbon footprint is virtually invisible."
Ranked #1 by Practical Sailor in both instructors and curriculum, Offshore is the only sailing school in the United States qualified to offer courses recommended by the American Council on Education for college credit. Offshore provides training at all levels of sailing instruction and a comprehensive course for those interested in power boating – all on state-of-the art award-winning boats. Locations include Fort Myers Beach, Captiva Island, Florida Keys and St. Petersburg, FL; Jersey City, NJ, New York, NY and Tortola, British Virgin Islands.
