Generation 2 Generation: Launches Politics Club
G2G Politics Club launches on date of Barack Obama's inauguration. David Lidington MP (Shadow Foreign Minister) and Alex Singleton (leader writer, Daily Telegraph) are keynote speakers. They spoke on US-UK relations, and the global economy.
London, United Kingdom, February 26, 2009 --(PR.com)-- On Tuesday 20th January 2009 – the date of President Obama’s inauguration – Generation 2 Generation (G2G) launched its Political Club at the St Stephen’s Club in St James’, London with the event ‘Over to Obama: Challenges for America and the World.’
Young professionals in careers such as law and public affairs joined students from the London School of Economics, Imperial College and other London universities to hear David Lidington MP, the Conservative Shadow Foreign Minister, and Daily Telegraph leader writer Alex Singleton give their views on the new American Administration. David Lidington said he felt UK-US relations would be very strong under President Obama. Alex Singleton spoke in depth about the economic challenges facing the Obama administration. He said that Obama has a very strong economics team to help him steer the United States and the world through the financial turmoil.
Alexander George, the co-founder of Generation 2 Generation, said that it was fitting that its Political Club launch event was on the same day as President Obama’s inauguration. ‘Last year Barack Obama inspired millions of young people worldwide and G2G hopes to tap into some of this newfound enthusiasm about politics,’ he said.
Humayun Qureshi, the Politics Club Director, added that G2G’s Politics Club plans to hold many more inspirational talks in the near future. ‘The Club aims to give graduates and young professionals the opportunity to meet leading political figures’, he said.
Generation 2 Generation was recently founded as a network to connect today’s leaders with tomorrow’s ones. It aims to bring together leading figures in politics, business and culture with talented graduates and young professionals to network and share ideas through talks, debates and masterclasses. The Politics Club is the first G2G club to be launched. G2G plans to launch an Entrepreneurship Club shortly.
