Eduminder Meets with Senator John Kerry's Office - Senator John Kerry’s Office Offers to Assist Eduminder in Efforts to Help Schools
The Eduminder senior team members met with Senator John Kerry’s office and received information, guidance and promises of future assistance in securing possible federal support for Eduminder in its mission to provide primary and secondary schools solutions for the education of children.
Providence, RI, February 26, 2009 --(PR.com)-- In a meeting with Senator John Kerry’s policy advisors on education and small business development, Eduminder staff members received information on the best avenues to securing federal support, including the possibility of federal grants and loans. Eduminder is seeking startup funding to develop free web-based software solutions for schools in an effort to reduce operating costs and improve the education of K-12 youth around the globe.
The representatives from Senator John Kerry’s office were enthusiastic as they learned the details and scope of the Eduminder program, and how schools and children will benefit both financially and educationally. The Senator's staff offered to continue to work closely with Eduminder to expedite the bureaucratic process, coordinate with the appropriate federal agencies and ensure Eduminder remains updated on all possible areas of federal support and assistance.
“We have a great sense of urgency with Eduminder as schools all over the world are feeling the impact of the global recession,” said Rolf Heitmann, founder and co-president of Eduminder. Mr. Heitmann adds: “With school budgets being cut, school closures and teacher layoffs on the rise, Eduminder will provide mission critical services 100% free of charge.”
The concept of Eduminder has been “in the works” for the past two years, and incorporated as a non-profit in Rhode Island in January 2009. It is widely recognized that the state of the economy makes it one of the worst possible times for starting up a non-profit, but the need for Eduminder has never been greater. “We have a long road ahead, but our commitment and determination is firm, and it is essential we move quickly,” stated co-President Kelly Heitmann.
According to The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), less than 40% of the 4th graders in the USA are proficient in reading and math. For 8th graders, this percentage drops to approximately 30%. This problem is not unique to the US - it is global. Eduminder is the first to put forward a solution to reduce or eliminate a widespread problem on a global scale.
