New Winnerweb Fly-Fishing Competition Catches Charles Jardine’s Imagination
Log on to youtube.com/winnerweb09 to hear Charles Jardine talk about the Winnerweb Fly Fishing Challenge 09 and why he is supporting it. Charles does not endorse many fly-fishing competitions, but he has given this one his full support because he believes this competition allows for a much more level playing field and democratises the event making it more open to everyone to have a more even chance of winning.
Chatham, United Kingdom, February 27, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Winnerweb fly-fishing challenge will officially launch at the Spring Fly-Fishing Show at the Newark Showground in Nottinghamshire, on Saturday 28th February and Sunday 1st March, by the UK’s pre-eminent fly fisherman Charles Jardine and the Winnerweb team.
Staged over five heats, two semi-finals and a final, the competition will be open to all, offering entrants a couple of different ways to enter. Entrants can log on to www.winnerweb.net and pay £1 to enter a game of skill; or book through the Winnerweb Challenge website and pay £35 entrance fee.
Fly-fishers attending the exhibition will be able to enter the competition at the show by logging onto Winnerweb’s online competition website for a £1 stake for the chance to win a place in the heats.
Initial heats will be staged over five weekends in April and May at the following venues:
Blithfield, Staffordshire – 4th April 2009
Eyebrook, Leicestershire – 11th April 2009
Wimbleball, Somerset – 16th May 2009
Stocks, Lancashire – 17th May 2009
Scotland – Venue to be confirmed – 30th May 2009
Semi-finals will be held in June with the grand final held on June 21st at
Toft Newton, Lincolnshire.
There will be £10,000 in cash prizes awarded and every competition entrant will receive a goody bag worth over £40, containing a fly box and set of flies, international hook gauge and fly lob. The top 40 contestants from each heat will go through to the semi-finals. Each of the semi-finalist contestants will also receive a premiere goody bag sponsored by top equipment manufacturers and retailers.
“This is a fabulous venture and one which I know will excite fly-fishers the length and breadth of the country. I am proud to be associated with Winnerweb.” Charles Jardine commented. He went on to say. “I do not make it a habit to endorse competitions but Winnerweb came to me with such an exciting proposition. Some of our venues are going to be entirely new to competition fly-fishing and the rest are among the best in the UK. This event is going to be the ‘must fish’ competition for all fly-fishers who want to test their skills in some of the best waters available.”
As a special prize, to the youngest qualifier in each semi-final and the youngest finalist as well, Charles Jardine is offering “A Day with Jardine” at a top UK fly-fishing location. A specially commissioned print of one of Charles paintings will be awarded to another successful angler.
With new waters, great cash prizes and the chance to be the Winnerweb Fly-Fishing Challenge winner of 2009; plus the opportunity to get some great tips from one of the UK’s best fly-fishermen, competition places will fill fast. Fly Fishers who don’t want to miss out on this exciting new venture should ensure they book a place or enter the competition online to win a place at one of the five venues.
