Launch of New Photojournalism Project and Internet Site Giving Honor to the Residents of Jerusalem
Photographer Nir Alon has launched a new photojournalism project and Internet site to host it – "TIPUSIM.com in Jerusalem" honors unique characters, personalities and individuals in Jerusalem constituting a diversified and spectacular human mosaic.
Jerusalem, Israel, February 27, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Jerusalem photographer Nir Alon has once again embarked on a new journey; TIPUSIM.com in Jerusalem will host multimedia interviews and profiles of Jerusalemites. TIPUSIM in Hebrew, Alon explains, means characters, personalities, unique individuals, and it is to the uniqueness of each individual that Alon plans on paying homage in this project.
For Alon, "The essence of Jerusalem isn't hidden under ancient stones. It isn't masked by a cloud of mysticism and belief. The essence of Jerusalem is alive in the people that live here and in the uniqueness of each and every one – a diversified and spectacular human mosaic".
The photographer further explains "Jerusalem has been my home for over three decades. Part of my childhood was here and this is where I chose to marry and raise my children. It's an unbelievable city with an amazing mosaic of people. It's the people that make the city!"
Three profiles are already available online; Beno Leibovici – Watchmaker, Brhan Mekonen – Actress and Itzchak Cohen – "Itzik the Plumber" – each includes a recorded interview and still photos in black and white, about three minutes long. A small peek into the lives and hearts of the residents of Jerusalem. Alon hopes to add a new profile weekly and explains the use of black and white stills photography as the best medium to touch the souls of his subjects.
Alon offers auto-updates for the Internet site via Email, Twitter and RSS.
Previous projects published by the photographer are "In Spite of!" (2007) documenting six months in a Jerusalem shelter for young women at risk available for viewing at
imagesofmythoughts.com/gallery/1741399_jCSiq and "Malki's Legacy - the story of hate inflicted death nurturing love and giving, nurturing life" (2008) available for viewing at
