UK Record-Breaking Slimmer to Run the Chicago Marathon
UK super slimmer, Charlie Walduck, is looking for sponsorship support to enable him to run the Chicago Marathon for charity. Companies will benefit from advertising and media exposure.
Chicago, IL, February 27, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Charlie Walduck, 41, reached a point in his life where he had run out of choices: Stop eating excessively or die.
He weighed 684 lbs when a friend of his contacted one of the UK’s most popular daytime TV shows, ‘This Morning’ to ask for their help. Resident GP, Doctor Chris Steele, educated, mentored and was instrumental in saving Charlie’s life. This was all done naturally with diet and exercise and sticking to a strict weight-loss plan.
"I have an addiction to food. If I got a week of groceries in, I’d sit and eat it until it was gone," says Charlie. "Unlike alcoholics or drug addicts, food is something you can’t cut out of your life altogether. That’s why I can only have enough food in the house for one day of eating and go shopping every day."
Within two years, Charlie weighed an incredible 196 lbs and had transformed himself and his life for good. The battle has been intense and is ongoing.
It seems there is no stopping Charlie now. He is currently putting the finishing touches to his autobiography, due for publication in October by Tonto Books. And, for a man who at one time could barely walk further than a few metres, Charlie has now run the BUPA Great Manchester Run 2005, 2006 and 2007, the BUPA Great North Run 2005, 2006 and 2007 and the Flora London Marathon in 2006 in the UK.
"It’s been an incredible journey. I’m actually helping people and they are inspired by what I’ve done. I’ve had the biggest audience response on ‘This Morning’ and have done TV around the world. Now I’ll have a book out later in the year and will have done another two UK half marathons, the Sydney Marathon and Chicago Marathon by the end of the year."
The Bingo Caller from Manchester is about to lose his job due to the recession and is currently looking for sponsorship to help him and his two running partners achieve their goal of running the Chicago Marathon.
"All we want to do is raise money for charity. A couple of years ago it was inconceivable that I could walk 26 steps, never mind run 26 miles. By doing this it is my way of saying anyone can get fit, anyone can do it if they put their mind to it."
The trio are interested in hearing from anyone willing to help out. Companies wishing to sponsor them would benefit from advertising during the race, being mentioned during interviews and would their support acknowledged in Charlie’s forthcoming autobiography, ‘Slimmer Charlie’.

Charlie Walduck is available for interview by contacting his publicist at Tonto Books.
