First Futsal Stadium to Open in Hayward
Futsal Republic will open as the first futsal (five-a-side indoor soccer) stadium in Hayward and the first on the I-880 corridor. The 18,000 square foot building at 21615 Hesperian Boulevard in Hayward is a unique destination for healthy family fun including three courts dedicated to the sport of futsal as well as martial arts, yoga and pilates studios, a massage and chiropractic clinic and a sports retail store. A grand opening of the facility is planned for Friday, February 27, 2009.
Hayward, CA, February 27, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Cornish & Carey Commercial/ONCOR International (C&C), the dominant real estate force in Northern California, today announced that Futsal Republic will open as the first futsal (five-a-side indoor soccer) stadium in Hayward and the first on the I-880 corridor. The owners of Futsal Republic -- Ryan Gozali, David Ng and Yuly Oentario – created a unique destination for healthy family fun. The 18,000 square foot (sf) building at 21615 Hesperian Boulevard in Hayward includes three courts dedicated to the sport of futsal as well as martial arts, yoga and pilates studios, a massage and chiropractic clinic and a sports retail store. Futsal is the international form of indoor soccer approved by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). It is played in over 100 countries with 12 million players worldwide. Futsal is played on a hard court surface and walls are not used in play. The game is played between two teams of five including a goalkeeper, and requires improvisation and skill to pass in small spaces.
Futsal Republic will be the first futsal stadium in the area, using the same court material that was used in the FIFA Futsal World Cup. Without this new structure, East Bay players had to travel to Alameda or San Jose for futsal practice and tournaments.
“We are so excited to make futsal more accessible to people living in the East Bay. The popularity of futsal mirrors the rise of soccer in the U.S. and we found several East Bay teams in need of a home,” said owner and futsal athlete Ryan Gozali. “Many Brazilian soccer superstars now playing professionally in Europe -- including Ronaldinho, Kaka and Robinho -- started playing futsal when they were young. They acknowledge the contribution the sport made to developing their skills.
The scheduling of activities and events at Futsal Republic will be multifaceted and target all age groups. The complex will host clinics with national team graduates, as well as national and international competitions bringing thousands of people to this East Bay community. Futsal Republic Leagues will be affiliated with US Soccer and its winners will be able to compete nationally against teams throughout the United States. Futsal Republic is well connected with the professional soccer leagues (San Jose Earthquakes from Major League Soccer, FC Gold Pride from the Women’s Professional Soccer and One United USA, the Official Supporters club of Manchester United in the States). Futsal Republic is collaborating with these professional teams to make a positive impact on the youth in the community by hosting pro players for clinics and mentorship. Futsal Republic will also be a safe haven for school children. This alternate after school destination will promote recreation, health, fun and fitness. Futsal Republic will give an opportunity for students in Hayward and the surrounding school districts to enjoy an after school program in a state-of-the-art facility. Monday through Friday from 2:30PM-5:30PM school children will receive a heavily discounted rate at Futsal Republic for bringing in their report card bearing good grades.
