Population of Muslim world exceeds 2 billion and sizeable Muslim population lives in Asia & Africa. They prefer to use HALAL food and there is increasing awareness among Muslims consumers on HALAL food Technology. Many ASEAN countries have taken bold initiatives and lead in the production and processing of HALAL foods.
Pakistan with 160 million populations (98%) Muslims and being Agro Economy has enormous potential for the production & Promotion of HALAL FOOD technology. The Govt. of Pakistan desires to benefit from the rich experience, knowledge and expertise of ASEAN countries on HALAL Food Technology.
Ministry of Livestock and Dairy Development Govt. of Pakistan is organizing ASEAN workshop on HALAL Food Technologies and Certification system on 11 & 12 March 2009 at Karachi Expo Centre in collaboration with ASEAN secretariat.
Guest Speakers from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, UAE, France and South Africa are expected to share their views on HALAL Food technology and certification system, Opportunities, Issues and Challenges, Way forward and recommendations in their speeches.
The workshop is being organized in conjunction with the 3rd Food, Agri & Livestock Asia 2009 Int’l Exhibition organized by Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd. at Karachi Expo Centre which is the biggest specialized exhibition in Pakistan, covering agro, milk, meat, seafood, bakery, drink and food safety technologies.
