Cambridge Concentus to Perform Final Concert of Season March 8th

The Cambridge Concentus period ensemble will perform its final concert of the season on March 8th at the First Church in Cambridge. The program pairs J.S. Bach's apocalyptic cantata Wachet! betet! betet! wachet! with the Fifth Brandenburg Concerto.

Cambridge, MA, March 03, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Cambridge Concentus period ensemble said today it will perform its final concert of the season on March 8th at the First Church in Cambridge. The program pairs J.S. Bach's apocalyptic cantata Wachet! betet! betet! wachet! with the Fifth Brandenburg Concerto. The concerto's legendary keyboard part, apocalyptic in its own right, is a perfect opportunity for harpsichordist Leon Schelhase to shine while Wachet! betet! betet! wachet! brilliantly depicts the anticipation of and preparation for the final day of judgement - perhaps a fitting theme for the end of its season:

Apocalyptic Bach, J.S. Bach (1685-1750), March 8, 2009 at 3 pm First Church in Cambridge

Fifth Brandenburg Concerto BWV 1050 performed by Leon Schelhase, harpsichord, Teddie Hwang, traverso, and Marika Holmqvist, baroque violin

'Wachet! betet! betet! wachet!' BWV 70, performed by Ulrike Präger, soprano, Thea Lobo, alto, Michael Barrett, tenor, and Ulsses Thomas, base.

A Wine and Cheese Reception is to follow in the church's Hastings Room. There is free admission, with a suggested donation being $10. The concert takes place at the First Church in Cambridge, 11 Garden St. Cambridge, MA. Take the Red Line or bus route towards Harvard, walk away from Harvard Square on Garden St. towards the Cambridge Common.
