The site is similar to sites like Twitter (http://twitter.com) in its format, and similar to sites like PostSecret (http://postsecret.blogspot.com) in its theme. However, according to Mr. Driscoll, iamguiltyof.com sets itself apart by providing contributors and observers of the site with updated content every 2 minutes. “While we obviously aren’t currently seeing the kind of traffic on iamguiltyof.com that would make the Recent Confessions feed a ‘firehose’,” says Driscoll, “it’s nice to know that the technology is in place to allow for constant, real-time updates for users who are observing the feed.”
The iamguiltyof.com website also features an archived listing of confessions that are more than 24 hours old, and gives users the opportunity to send confessions to the site from their Twitter accounts. The site, according to Mr. Driscoll, will have additional features in the near future: “We hope that we can tap into existing sources of social media and user-generated content like Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, and others to help us expand our reach and make it easier for users [of those sites] to contribute content to iamguiltyof.com.”
