Council For Entrepreneurial Development Announces CED’s Venture 2009 Conference

Research Triangle Park, NC, March 06, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Joan Siefert Rose, president of the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) (www.cednc.org), a private, nonprofit organization that promotes entrepreneurial efforts in the Triangle region of North Carolina, has announced that the CED’s Venture 2009 conference will be held Wednesday, April 22 and Thursday, April 23 at the Pinehurst Resort, located at 1 Carolina Vista Drive in the Village of Pinehurst. CED’s Venture 2009 conference is the nation’s longest running financing event, bringing together promising companies in the life sciences, clean tech and technology arenas with investors to create business opportunities.

The conference will feature the most promising early and late stage companies in the region, with the majority of presenting companies this year based in North Carolina.

Keynote speakers include John Stumpf, president and CEO of Wells Fargo & Company; John Denniston, partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers; the Honorable Erskine Bowles, president of the University of North Carolina; and the Honorable Janet Cowell, North Carolina State Treasurer.

“We are excited about the Venture 2009 conference,” said Rose. “Year after year, it continues to be a successful event that brings together many entrepreneurs with growing companies to create more business in the North Carolina and around the Southeast.”

"Venture 2009 will be a focus on innovation, our very best and brightest in entrepreneurs and companies,” said Venture 2009 selection committee chair Steve Nelson, managing partner at venture capital firm Wakefield Group. “History shows that many of an era's great companies get started in economic downturns. This event is our chance to see what future history makers will become today's reality. And we are thrilled that John Denniston, of the legendary venture capital firm, Kleiner Perkins, will be joining us. John is one of the most respected company builders in the world. To great notoriety, including all the way to the White House, John conceptualized and launched Kleiner Perkin’s awe-inspiring greentech initiative. Venture 2009 will be a chance to experience tomorrow's future, today."
