Asia Sports & Entertainment (ASE) Announces 2006 Hoop Stars China Tour
Laguna Beach, CA, July 12, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Asia Sports & Entertainment (ASE), an athlete representation and event management firm, announced today the 2006 Hoop Stars China Tour, a three-week tour of entertainment basketball, competitive games and instructional coaching clinics from July 25-August 17 in Guangzhou, China and surrounding cities. “We are very excited about the 2006 Hoop Stars China Tour since basketball is obviously one of the most popular sports in China and streetball is just exploding with the kids,” said Andrew Watkins, president of ASE. “The Hoop Stars are a truly unique entertainment property; they’re fun and family-oriented like the Harlem Globetrotters, but they’re really different, too, in that they’re also hard core and competitive, like the AND-1 tour.”
The Hoop Stars team is comprised of streetball legends and celebrities who tour combining hip-hop and basketball while teaching young players the values of solid fundamentals, teamwork and skills. Also known as the “LA Hooptainers,” the team was founded over three years ago by Jay “Boogie” Brantley, who played college basketball at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and has been featured in Sports Illustrated Teen, Hoops Vibe, and Slam Magazine, where he was recently named as the “West Coast Baller of the Year.”
“I started the team in order to make a difference in the lives of kids,” says Jay Brantley, team founder and Director of Basketball Operations for ASE. “I wanted to help instill confidence and self-awareness through playing the sport of basketball. This was my way of giving back to the community.”
The 2006 Hoop Stars China Tour will run from July 25-August 17 in Guangzhou, China and other surrounding cities in the Guangdong Province. Many exhibition games will be played at the Tianhe Sports Center (TSC) in Guangzhou City, which is also the site of the 2010 Asian Games. Other events during the 2006 Hoop Stars China Tour include visits to elementary and sports schools, demonstration nights at the TSC outdoor courts, coaching clinics for adult and youth players, TV and radio interviews, special events at local hot spots, and much more. ASE will partner with China Sports Professional Network (CSPN) in promoting, marketing, and managing the event while in China.
As a warm up for the 2006 Hoop Stars China Tour, the team will play this month in the 2006 Summer Pro League (SPL) at the Pyramid on the campus of Cal State Long Beach. The following schedule includes Thursday July 13 at 12:45pm; and July16 at 5:15pm. Of special note is the “Hoop Stars vs. TNT Basketball Challenge Presented by China Southern Airlines” on Saturday 7/15 at 7:30pm. The event will feature pre-game VIP reception hosted China Southern Airlines and a halftime giveaway for two (2) roundtrip tickets between LAX-Guangzhou, China open to all SPL attendees.
