Ultra Low Power Microcontroller Specialist Energy Micro Extends Global Sales Organization
The provider of the world’s most energy friendly microcontrollers opens US office and appoints senior Microcontroller professionals.
Oslo, Norway, March 11, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Embedded designers focusing on ultra low power consumption and high performance get local support when low energy microcontroller specialist Energy Micro increase its Americas and EMEA sales organization. The Oslo based semiconductor company continues its growth and appoints Vice President Sales Americas and Vice President Sales EMEA for its 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 based EFM32 microcontrollers.
The new global sales organization includes a sales office in Novi, Michigan responsible for the Americas. Sam Kasgorgis, newly appointed VP Sales Americas will be heading the West Bloomfield office. Ian Fletcher, UK based and newly appointed VP Sales EMEA, is responsible for the Europe/Middle East/Africa markets. Both Sam and Ian have an extensive background from the semiconductor industry.
Energy Micro’s VP Sales Americas Sam Kasgorgis has previously worked for microcontroller firms such as Silicon Laboratories, Atmel and Toshiba.
“Ultra low power has previously not been associated with 32-bit controllers, but the new EFM32 devices are actually more energy friendly than low power 8- or 16-bit microcontrollers,” says Sam Kasgorgis. “Now we have raw 32-bit performance while increasing the battery life time at the same time!”
VP Sales EMEA Ian Fletcher brings more than 15 years of embedded microcontroller experience within the semiconductor industry to Energy Micro. More than half of this time was at Director level in companies such as Atmel, Cygnal, Silicon Labs and Luminary Micro.
“Working with ARM Cortex-M3 customers since day one convinced me of the enormous power of this processor. I am pleased to be part of the first company that actually releases the Cortex’ low power potential and creates the world’s most energy friendly microcontroller. This combined with the best-in-class sleep modes current consumption and fast wake-up times, makes the EFM32 microcontrollers an unbeatable combination for long battery lifetime applications,” said newly appointed VP Sales, Ian Fletcher.
