Americans are Overmedicating for Depression

There are alternative health modalities to help with managing depression and Soaring Potential, LLC is hosting a 2-day event to introduce some of the best life coaches, alternative health stategists and healing practitioners to the Denver community.

Denver, CO, March 11, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The alternative health community is thriving in the US. Is this because Western medicine is all too ready to prescribe, prescribe, prescribe and the American people are ready to treat the mind, body and spirit? More and more Americans are trying alternatives to depression such as meditation, yoga, energy work, massage, hypnotherapy and several other modalities to feel better in these tough economic times.

According to Psychology Today, “the brain waves of meditators show why they're healthier. Neuroscientists have found that meditators shift their brain activity to different areas of the cortex—brain waves in the stress-prone right frontal cortex move to the calmer left frontal cortex. In other words, they were calmer and happier than before.”

In an article published on NaturalNews.com by Stephanie Brail, the benefits of yoga postures are explored, stating that they “…have been specifically shown to increase levels of the neurotransmitter GABA, which may alleviate depression.”

People are ready for and are willing to look at alternative ways to feel better and make their lives more fulfilling. Fortunately, we live in an area of the US that is teaming with professionals that can help diminish limiting beliefs, change the energy they create, feel and look younger, and laugh just for the sake of laughing.

Dan Galperin, life coach, founder and president of Soaring Potential (www.soaringpotential.com) states, “I find people are happy and excited when the possibilities of their lives are expanding; conversely, people get depressed when they perceive possibilities are decreasing.” In an effort to provide alternative methods for living happier and more fulfilling lives, Soaring Potential is hosting a 2-day event on April 4 and 5, 2009 to introduce some of the best life coaches, alternative health strategists and healing practitioners in the Denver area.
