Professional Domino Players to Visit Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding
Atlanta, GA, July 13, 2006 --(PR.com)-- The Professional Domino Association (PDA) is coming to Atlanta as part of its 2006 season, which includes tournaments in 13 cities across the country. For many tour players, however, the most memorable game of dominoes they play in Atlanta will not take place at the PDA tournament where $30,000 in prize money is up for grabs, but rather when they visit Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding on Saturday, July 22, at 11:00 a.m. Players, alongside PDA Commissioner Jay King, will distribute sets of dominoes to the hospital's patients and teach them how to play the game.
Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics in Kansas City, and Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland have all hosted similar visits, which were very rewarding for both the players and patients in attendance. Smiles abounded as the children were taught basic domino concepts such as "fishing" and "doing the laundry."
The hospital visits are part of the PDA's effort to give back to the local communities that host tour tournaments. "The game of dominoes has been a gift in each of our lives, bringing us countless hours of joy and entertainment," says PDA Commissioner Jay King. "We hope to share this gift with as many people as possible."
Many of the PDA's top young stars such as Nate Tsegay, Richard Harris and George Bush are scheduled to be in attendance.
The PDA's Atlanta Tournament will be held on July 22 at the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel. Registration starts at 12:00 pm and the tournament begins at 1:30 pm.
