5TH Annual Atlanta Urban Fashion Week begins in April

Atlanta, GA, March 11, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The 5th Annual Atlanta Urban Fashion Week is set to take over the runways of Atlanta this April with a five day line-up of events ranging from fashion shows to seminars. With each ticket holder getting the chance to win a Bentley GT, the 2009 Atlanta UFW will set the bar for those that follow.

Atlanta UFW will be showcasing many of Atlanta’s most talented designers and boutiques as well as a few nationally known urban couture brands, one of which being Troop menswear. All true urban-fashion buffs are familiar with retro brand that has re-emerged on the fashion scene after an extended hiatus in the early 90s.

Now lovers of the brand that was once sported by multiple 90s rap icons will have the chance to own their very own newly released Troop gear. Atlanta UFW is giving away one pair of Troop sneakers and apparel to the first five people in the door at the official Atlanta UFW kick-off party at Via Lounge on Tuesday, April 14. The first 200 people will be in a drawing to win a pair of new low top Troop sneakers.

Following the kick-off party at Via Lounge the week only gets better. Thursday, Ten Pins in Atlantic Station will host the designer showcase. Friday, the first runway show will be held in the upscale city venue, The Event Loft at Underground Atlanta. Atlanta UFW will host two more runway shows in the Event Loft on Saturday and the week will conclude on Sunday with a seminar, still show and boutique sale in the Atlanta UFW Suite (formerly Triple Play in Kenny’s Alley at Underground Atlanta).

“I think hosting the seminar was very important because it allows for a free exchange of advice and ideas amongst some very successful fashion industry professionals and those that are up-and-coming,” comments founder of UFW, Billy “Bad Axx” Foster, on the two part finale event on Sunday. “I think Sunday will be something that true fashion fanatics will look forward to…you get to talk with the pros and shop the boutiques and designers that have been featured throughout the week.”

Urban Fashion Week began nine years ago in Los Angeles as the brainchild of Billy Foster, brand manager and celebrity stylist. Foster was inspired to create UFW while trying to launch his own line of clothing, Billy Bad Axx.
