It’s a Thermal Blanket Cover Up for Cold Chain Air Cargo
Various airlines are testing a new thermal blanket initiative to increase the protection of temperature sensitive shipments and address the IATA Chapter 17 regulations.
London, United Kingdom, March 13, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The introduction of Polartherm LD7 heavy-duty thermal blankets will help protect cold chain requirements throughout a journey by keeping perishable and pharmaceutical cargo within temperature limits.
Polar LD3 (AKE) and LD9 (AAP) ULD thermal liners have been in use for several years with DHL and Kuehne + Nagel but recent changes in PDA guidelines and IATA regulations (Chapter 17) have resulted in demand for P1P (LD7) insulated shrouds.
The thermal pallet cover protects pallets of perishable and pharmaceutical cargo during transportation by stabilising the cargo temperature and shielding it from weather and temperature fluctuation, including rain and sunlight damage. The product is designed to provide cold chain integrity, and can be custom manufactured to be used with a variety of pallet sizes.
The new Polartherm LD7 insulated blankets that are being testing
The thermal blankets are made out of a unique three layer material providing outstanding thermal insulation qualities: a reflective layer, fiber filler and a PVC outer layer. Insulation panels are contained in wear resistant PVC fabric pockets and are sandwiched between sheets of reflective aluminium foils. The blanket will cover the entire pallet with three panels: a bottom, a top, and a side panel that wraps around all four sides and is secured with velcro.
Thermal pallet covers are used to help protect a wide variety of cargo that is susceptible to temperature fluctuations during transport such as flowers, fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh fish, pharmaceuticals and hi-tech electrical products.
Airways will place thermal pallet covers over all temperature sensitive shipments as and when the shipment is accepted for carriage till delivery to the consignee at final destination. The blankets guarantee the freshness and quality of perishable products in the most adverse weather conditions by insulating the cargo.
Polar Thermal Products continuously innovates the cool chain, the introduction of the thermal blankets being an example of this.
Commenting on the introduction of the thermal blankets, Peter Lockett, Polar Head of Sales & Marketing said: “Airlines and logistics professionals are now recognizing that heavy duty thermal blankets are an ideal solution to the IANTA Chapter 17 regulations for controlled ambient cargo.”
Lockett continued: “These thermal blankets provide the means to offer customers a better and more efficient way to transport perishable goods by reducing the risk of the cargo being affected or damaged by extreme weather and temperature conditions from the time that the airline accepts delivery right up until the products are collected.”
Polar is experienced in developing and manufacturing a variety of insulated products for military, pharmaceutical, healthcare and logistics. The Polartherm insulating material provides high levels of thermal performance and resistance together with durability that enables equipment to last for many years.
In the last two months Polar has strengthened its distributor network across the globe and is represented in most continents.
