Ergonomics Expert Provides Insight About the Use of New Technologies
Jean Schiller, Certified Professional Ergonomist, provides insight to the American Chiropractic Association about musculoskeletal disorders associated with the overuse of technologies such as PDAs and gaming systems.

ACA News is the monthly magazine of the American Chiropractic Association (ACA, http://www.acatoday.org) and is a well-respected source for timely information about national legislative, insurance and media-related issues that affect doctors of chiropractic medicine. The magazine offers informative monthly feature stories and regular columns that explore subjects such as practice management, health and wellness, integrative care and professional ethics. Ms. Schiller, a Certified Professional Ergonomist (C.P.E.) and Certified Product Safety Manager (CPSM), holds a B.S.E. and an M.S.E. from the University of Michigan in Industrial and Operations Engineering. Deeply involved in the human factors and product design community, she is a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES), the Usability Professionals Association (UPA) and the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). She has served on American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards committees and has held several officer positions in various HFES Technical Groups.
Ms. Schiller, having many years of hands on experience and a great deal of expertise in the areas of musculoskeletal disorders, usability, and product design, was recently interviewed by Nataliya Schetchikova, PhD, the Associate Editor of ACA News. The article, "Thumbs Up: Beware of New Ergonomic Hazards" detailed the ergonomic issues of using popular technologies such as PDAs, Blackberries, and Wii Gaming Systems.
