Chronicling the times the City was destroyed-and-rebuilt between the Gold Rush and the Panama Pacific International Exposition of 1915, the toll local Vigilantes took on Barbary Coast life, tall-tales of beloved Emperor Norton, despised Shanghai Kelly, boisterous entertainers Lola Montez & Lotta Crabtree, Union Square’s Statue “Big” Alma, young satirist Mark Twain, and the infamous Voodoo Queen Mary Ellen Pleasant.

Celebrating the 150-Year Anniversary of the 1849 Gold Rush, “Eccentrics of San Francisco’s Barbary Coast ...a magical escapade" has been presented to great aclaim, now the highly praised show is now permanently housed within the San Francisco Magic Parlor at the Chancellor Hotel, 433 Powell Street, right on Union Square.

This Victorian Parlor is elegant yet informal in ambiance, a comfortable room where both tourists and locals can experience distinctive magic with a classic theatrical flavor, without totally emptying their pocketbooks. Audiences gather for a ninety-minute show abounding with local anecdotes and lore presented by captivating and consummate conjurers and tale-tellers. An intimate velvet-draped stage is the focal point of the salon, the cozy theatre seating only about three-dozen guests. Share libations and delicacies one-half-hour before the show in the elegant and intimate theatre every Friday and Saturday Evening at 8:00pm sharp.

The Show is partnering with the terrific staff at the Chancellor Hotel to re-establish the San Francisco Magic Parlor in a perfect location accessible to both residents and visitors, and truly hope this long-term venture will send folks back home from the Bay Area with very magical memories of their California visit.
