Austin, TX, March 17, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Three essential elements interpreted by three different award-winning artists. ‘Earth, Sky, Water’ is the second in a series of Austin Art Space exhibits featuring artists-in-residence. A total of 32 original paintings will be on display in various mediums including oils, acrylics, watercolors and pastels.
Marilyn Rea Nasky strives for the spiritual presence inherent in the transient beauty of the planet. Her Sacred Earth Series and Texas Hill Country Series draw inspiration directly from the land and sky. Most recently, the Austin Visual Arts Association made her Agave Forest painting into a poster for display at Austin Bergstrom International Airport through January 2009.
Jan Knox‘s contemporary view focuses on the underlying structure rather than the merely visible and magnifies the colors of nature in unexpected ways. Her new series titled Earth Layers goes even deeper, symbolizing and juxtaposing the earth’s strata. Earlier this month, Ms. Knox’s work was recognized at the juried Wimberley Valley Art League show.
Valerie Walden conveys the emotion of the moment through color and value in a unifying, representational approach. She has two new series of works – one from Wenmohs Ranch and the other from the Idaho Tetons – that reflect her growing devotion to plein air painting. Ms. Walden’s art was also selected for the AVAA exhibit at the airport, and she was chosen for the nationally-juried Austin Pastel Society Annual Exhibit earlier last year.
All three artists will be on hand to discuss their work at the Opening Reception on Friday, April 17, 6:00pm-9:00pm. All patrons are welcome to attend. The show continues during regular gallery hours, ending on Saturday, April 28.
