MD of Teamlink Travel Running 7 Marathons to Give a Break to Children Living in Poverty
Mark Gardner, the Managing Director of Teamlink Travel will be running seven marathons in seven days to help give kids living in poverty a much-needed break away with their family.
London, United Kingdom, March 19, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Mark Gardner, the Managing Director of Teamlink Travel will be running seven marathons in seven days to support some of his favourite charities. He will be joined in this mammoth venture by Jarlath O’Hara of the London School of Economics.
Among the charities Mark and Jarlath will be supporting are the Alzheimer’s Society and Everyman. But for this week their justgiving website will be raising funds exclusively for travel industry favourite, the Family Holiday Association, the charity that helps severely disadvantaged children and their families get a break away from home.
“I have run 13 marathons,” said Mark. “But never so many so close together. Completing seven in seven days is going to be a major challenge, but Jarlath and I are determined to complete it and support the important work of our chosen charities”.
John McDonald, director of the Family Holiday Association said “Every year we have 20-30 people who run a single marathon to raise funds to help disadvantaged children get a break away from home. The dedication needed to train for and run a marathon is extraordinary. To run seven in a row is mind-boggling. We’re very grateful to Mark and Jarlath for making us one of the beneficiaries of their remarkable challenge”.
Anyone who would like to wish Mark and Jarlath luck, and pledge some money to help the Family Holiday Association, can do so at www.justgiving.com/7in7days. For a week from 16 March, they are raising funds exclusively for the Family Holiday Association. After this supporters will be able to select which charity they would like to support.
