Gaymar Introduces Sof•Care® Stretcher Overlay, Enabling Pressure Ulcer Management at Every Stage of Care
The Sof•Care Stretcher Overlay is designed to help protect patients against pressure ulcers during transport and while waiting in emergency departments, operating rooms, post-anesthesia care units and other stages of care.
Chicago, IL, March 19, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Gaymar Industries, the leading provider of medical solutions for pressure ulcer and temperature management, today introduced the Sof•Care® Stretcher Overlay at the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) 56th Annual Congress. The Sof•Care Stretcher Overlay is designed to help protect patients against pressure ulcers during transport and while waiting in emergency departments, operating rooms, post-anesthesia care units and other stages of care.
“With new CMS guidelines putting an emphasis on the proper prevention, identification and treatment of pressure ulcers, clinicians must be vigilant wherever their patients are treated,” said Dr. Thomas Stewart, President of Gaymar Industries. “Since healthcare facilities are crowded and understaffed and in-patient beds are at a premium, wait times in Emergency Departments (ED) are on the rise, meaning pressure ulcer management does not always receive the immediate attention it requires. The Sof•Care Stretcher Overlay provides a simple, affordable way for clinicians to provide effective pressure redistribution throughout every stage of the patient’s hospital stay, starting in the ED.”
The Sof•Care Stretcher Overlay redistributes the patient’s weight using Gaymar’s proven Sof•Care three-layer air-channeling technology, which has been proven effective for more than 25 years. The Sof•Care Stretcher Overlay immerses the patient in over 300 air cells and prevents bottoming even when the head of the stretcher is raised, helping to keep ulcers from forming and allow existing ulcers to heal.
Specially designed to accommodate the wide variety of stretchers used in healthcare facilities, the Sof•Care Stretcher Overlay is available in 27- and 30-inch widths, with three adjustable straps to secure the overlay to the stretcher and help prevent patient falls. Sturdy, molded hand welds are located on each side of the overlay to facilitate patient repositioning.
The Sof•Care Stretcher Overlay is made from smooth, durable vinyl that is easy to clean, enabling repeated use by the same patient. Three quick, easy-to-use inflation options are available.
