Life is of the Essence in Outskirts Author’s New Poetry Collection
Dallas, TX, March 19, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Poet Sir Darcy Darrell Demby trains his eye on every aspect of life, love, and spirituality in The Essence of a Man, his moving new collection just published by Outskirts Press.
Demby, a 31-year-old native of Dallas, mines his substantial literary gifts in 70 poems collected here. This wide-ranging collection touches on experiences of love, the passage of time, and man’s expectancy for the hereafter. These are poems that ponder our existence, poems that examine our reality, and poems that reignite feelings for past and present loves.
In “Beautiful,” Demby expresses the universal joy of lovers’ first tremulous meetings. “Do Shadows Rise” articulates uncertainty over what happens after death¾in all its glorious possibilities. And both “Geometry” and “The Essence of a Man” get to our insecurities over the interminable progression of time and our limited allowance of it on earth.
Through it all, Demby affirms the preeminence of God’s role in our lives. Poems such as “The Light” show how all are made equal under His universal justice. With such a philosophy, Demby faces the trials and tribulations of mortality with the assurance afforded to him by a strong belief in the divine.
With lilting rhymes, masterful imagery and penetrating insights into the human condition, The Essence of a Man expresses what we are, how we think, and the way we feel. It is a picture of the human being's spiritual, mystical, and impenetrable core.
The Essence of a Man is now available through Ingram, Baker & Taylor, Amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, and the online bookstore of Outskirts Press, at outskirtspress.com/store.php.
