iUniverse Would Like to Announce the Release of A Host of Suspects by Michael Marra
Bloomington, IN, March 22, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Expect the unexpected in Marra’s world.
A Host of Suspects’ short stories are both intriguing and gritty.
A Host of Suspects (published by iUniverse) by Michael Marra shares short stories of gritty, corrupt worlds where the line between right and wrong is often very hazy and leads people to do things they would have never imagined.
In these fifteen short stories, Marra creates life lessons that can manifest themselves in strange, unforeseen ways. Such as in “No Less a Man” where Marra sheds light upon behavior, other people’s expectations concerning it and the impact of these expectations on others. “Beyond Your Means” provides a glimpse into the extent of what some people will do to live the life they feel they deserve, yet perseverance and cunning don’t always guarantee success. A man in “One For The Money” goes to extremes to surreptitiously acquire money, love and the most powerful job in the world.
“If there is any message to be delivered within these stories it is that one must always be prepared to expect the unexpected both in their lives and within these stories,” Marra said. “Who is that person standing beside you? What has he or she done that may or may not affect your life? Who is the person you are sleeping with or married to? How well do you really know them and how well do you know yourself?”
Many of the stories may make readers questions their morals and their integrity and those of others, including the extreme lengths that they would go to preserve the quality of life for themselves or their loved ones.
“When you believe you have found the answer within these stories be prepared for the unforeseen,” Marra said. “People’s personal demons as well as their wants and needs transform these stories into a twist that is less than obvious within each of them.”
Marra, who grew up on the streets of New York during the 1960s, is currently living in Colorado Springs, Colorado and working on two novels and is just finishing up his second book of short stories. Marra’s goal is to entertain and with hope, provide delight to the reading world at large.
