WW2 Air Force Navigator Defines a Post War Life in His Second Book

Following his first book Short Shorts, we see in his newest release From the Ritz to the Land of Oz, part one of a group of short stories defining the ongoing life of an imperfect semi-hero and those whose life he impacts.

San Francisco, CA, July 17, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Jerry Oblonsky is furthering his dream of writing since he first began to read. He was inspired by childhood writer heroes: John O’Hara, John Steinbeck and James T. Farrell. Born in Ohio in 1924, he served in WW2 as an aerial navigator. Upon discharge from the Army Air Force he attended Ohio State University. He then worked as an engineer and project manager in Australia and Jamaica and as a Building Official for the City of Upland in the Los Angeles area. His retirement in 1990 finally allowed him the opportunity to write. He presently resides in Rossmoor, Walnut Creek, California with his wife Claire.

Following his first book Short Shorts, we see in his newest release From the Ritz to the Land of Oz, part one of a group of short stories defining the ongoing life of an imperfect semi-hero and those whose life he impacts. These revealing tales delve into issues ranging from self-deceit, adultery and marriage, parenthood to anti-Semitism, baseball and death. The locales include an intriguing stay in an Australian hotel and a checkerboard of American Air Force bases terminating in a blind leap into a last frontier.

These stories create from fiction a living person. Oblonsky displays great intelligence, wit, depth and range. The stories vary greatly in tone to situation. Yet an underlying theme throughout is how events influence personal response to major or seemingly insignificant bumps in the road. You will reflect back on the stories long after you have finished reading them.
