More and more sex addicts are finding help in an unusual place: in a box. * 3% had one relapse, with no consequences
* 12% had 1-3 slips, with moderate consequences
* Only One patient had relapse with severe consequences (i.e. the patient acted out in a way that resulted in job loss, arrest, etc.)
One addict summed it up this way:
"The program for me was quite a long and deep process, because it not only made me aware of the fact that my disease was/is in fact an old defense mechanism. I have been using this defunct outdated 'raft' as a way to deal with stuff that happens on a daily basis. The meditations I found incredibly helpful. What I have understood from the process is that the short circuit in the brain has literally re-wired that part of me that helps me cope with pain, sadness, loss, etc. It has been an amazing experience and I am very fortunate to have gone through it.
