The End of an Era - Guzzi's Jewelers Brings 37 Year Business to a Close

Stratford, CT, March 26, 2009 --(PR.com)-- American enjoyed watching “You’ve Got Mail”, the journey of a long timed loved tiny bookstore in New York City that slowly succumbed to the book mega giant store down the street. The “Shop Around the Corner” bookstore prided itself on its owner knowing every book within it walls, knowing all the customers by first name, and knowing a bit about each of their lives. In contrast, the giant bookstore along with numerous chains, certainly had volume, variety and lattes, but the warm touch was noticeably absent.

Is it fact or just Hollywood fantasy?

Thirty-seven years ago, Guzzi’s Jewelers opened its doors across from the Stratford Shakespeare Theatre. Fast-forward through a lifetime and new location at 2505 Main Street in Stratford, Connecticut, Guzzi’s expertise was in quality diamonds, gold jewelry, charms and figurines; they knew where each item was located in the store, greeted every customer by name and remembered special events in their lives.

Mega warehouse stores, on-line shopping, rising costs and a weak economy has forced Guzzi’s Jewelers to close its doors forever.

Area media giants like WTNH tv, the Connecticut Post and New Haven Register have referred to Guzzi’s Jewelers as “a landmark jeweler” “a place where dreams begin” and “an end of an era”.

“I have been a customer of Guzzi’s Jewelers for many years,” said an unidentified Stratford woman. “My parents originally bought me a gold locket for my graduation from Guzzi’s. Since then, Guzzi’s has always been my personal jeweler. My husband and I bought our wedding bands there. I always trusted them for their knowledge and quality.

There is something great about walking into a store and feeling special.”

Not unlike the story line in “You’ve Got Mail” there is a happy ending.
Even though Guzzi’s Jewelers is closing, the personal service, quality and expertise that have been a mainstay for 37 years will not be lost. Diamond Designs of Orange, a sister store of Guzzi’s will continue with is tradition.

“Our focus on quality, customer service and individual attention mirrors that of Guzzi’s. We would like to extend a warm welcome to all of Guzzi’s customers,” said Dee Dadlani, owner.

Guzzi’s Jewelers continues with their “Going Out of Business” sale. Prices are being drastically reduced on everything in the store including all diamonds, all gold chains, all charms, all figurines.

Guzzi’s Jewelers would like to thank all of their friends and patrons for their years of support.
