'Porsche Design Edition 3' Cayenne GTS Celebrates Premiere
New special edition clearly bears the Porsche Design Studio signature.
Ontario, CA, March 27, 2009 --(PR.com)-- At the first German motor show of the year, the AMI Leipzig, the Porsche Design Group and Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche AG will present the Porsche Design Edition 3, with a limited production run of 1,000 units. The Porsche Design Edition 3 is a special edition Cayenne GTS model in metallic lava gray accompanied by selected Porsche Design products.
The Cayenne continues the innovative design line which began successfully with the 'Porsche Design Edition 1' Cayman S and the 'Porsche Design Edition 2' Boxster S. The clear signature of the Porsche Design Studio - a global leader in industrial and product design based in Zell am See in Austria - is even evident in the choice of exterior color. Metallic lava gray emphasizes the sporty, purist appearance of the model, while design stripes on the sides and engine hood illustrate its distinctive aesthetic character. Even the standard 21-inch Sport Plus wheels have an elegant metallic gray finish.
The exterior package is completed with the accentuated black surrounds of the bi-xenon headlights and dark tinted glass from the B-pillar to the rear, as well as the model name 'Cayenne GTS' in black with a red 'S' on the tail. The appeal of the 405 bhp Cayenne GTS is further accentuated by the exclusive black leather trim with red contrast stitching on the dashboard and door sills. The driving performance of the 4.8-liter V8 engine with 500 Nm torque is likewise impressive. The Porsche Design Edition 3 with its standard six-speed Tiptronic S gearbox accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds and has a top speed of 251 km/h.
Unique and series production products from Porsche Design are supplied with every 'Porsche Design Edition' model. The exclusive chronograph to complement the vehicle has a very special status nowadays. F. A. Porsche not only designed the first Porsche 911, he also founded the Porsche Design Studio in Zell am See and there - on behalf of Porsche AG - designed his first watch in 1972. For the Edition 3, Porsche Design has selected an Automatic P'6612 Chronograph, with a lightweight titanium case with a 42 mm diameter and a metal strap which both have a DLC finish ('Diamond Like Carbon'). This finishing process originates from the coating technology used for racing engines and lends the titanium watch case its characteristic vehicle color. The exclusively designed dial also borrows distinctive stylistic elements from the Cayenne interior.
The four-piece luggage set with its own 'Porsche Design 3' label also perfectly complements the style of the Cayenne GTS - with three trolley cases of different sizes and a practical briefcase. Except for the largest 62-liter trolley cases, all pieces are suitable as airplane hand baggage. Red contrast stitching on the exteriors along with red inner stitching on the front pockets accurately and skillfully reflects the interior design of the special edition model. As a limited edition, each individual car is identified by a badge on the lid of the glove compartment.
The gradual market launch of the 'Porsche Design Edition 3' Cayenne GTS will begin in Germany at the end of May. The base price is 79,100 euros with the chronograph and luggage set and, including 19 percent value-added tax, the price in Germany will be 94,344 euros.
