Recent works from the Liverton, Devon, studio of English artist Marc Winstanley on exhibit the entire month of April at Pam’s Patio Kitchen, Tuesday through Saturday, between 11 am and 3 pm, and again at 6:00-9:30 pm. The venue, located at 11826 Wurzbach Road off Lockhill Selma in northwest San Antonio, is an art space that happens to serve terrifically good market fresh food in its zagat rated restaurant, with both indoor and outdoor patio seating.

San Antonio, TX, March 28, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Pam’s Patio Kitchen will showcase the work of internationally known artist Marc Winstanley during the entire month of April as his latest collection from his Liverton, Devon, studio travels to the United States. The collection of these original works for sale includes many watercolors, for which Winstanley is famed in his homeland and in the countries he’s exhibited; and includes several new breakout works in oil--a different medium for Winstanley--as he captures the Tors of Dartmoor.

Winstanley, who began his professional career in Plymouth, Devon, England, opened the Exe Studio in the village of Topsham. Here he became internationally known for his picturesque landscape paintings expertly rendered in the English traditional style of watercolor. His works include the local harbour and estuary, 10th century church, and the Strand with its Dutch gables; and have been purchased for gallery and private collections worldwide. He established his local watercolor society and school of art, and after seven years closed the public Exe Studio to locate his private studio in Liverton, Devon, where he continues to work on his paintings and commissioned works, and walk the nearby moors of Dartmoor.

The pieces in Winstanley’s latest collection will include watercolor works on paper of the landscapes and sea-scenes that earned him his success, and several large works on canvas of the new series based on the Tors of Dartmoor. “These paintings based upon the Tors evolved gradually, the more I studied the natural shapes of these granite rocks, the more I understood how the shapes and textures were different, all the time changing with the seasons, the atmospheric light enhancing the randomness of the structures, often dark and brooding, occasionally phallic, but always beautiful. The ethereal mystery of the moor I have tried to encompass along with the legends appearing in the semi-abstract forms I have chosen.”

These latest works for sale by Marc Winstanley range from $120.00 to $650.00, and, in the tradition of many English watercolorists, makes available copies of other works on fine quality gift cards for $2.50 each.
