Noida (UP), India, March 29, 2009 --(PR.com)-- MagicBricks.com, India’s No. 1 Property portal, in association with The Vatika Group presents “Earth Walk” - a unique corporate social initiative on Earth Day – 28th March 2009 at 7 a.m. The initiative aims to sensitise citizens towards using energy responsibly.
Speaking of the Earth Walk Initiative, Mr. Ramathreya Krishnamurthi, Head, MagicBricks.com remarked, “All of us are connected not only through the internet –technologically, but economically, and most significantly environmentally, as well. How we, as Global citizens, use the Earth’s resources, impacts all of us, and we are very glad to be initiating the Earth Walk with the Vatika Group.”
Mr. Gaurav Bhalla, Director - Marketing & Operations of The Vatika Group said “The Vatika Earth Walk is our group's effort to get more and more people, especially children, interested in the green initiative. Vatika as a group is participating actively in the WWF Earth Day energy shut down between 8.30-9.30 pm. We will implement this across all our properties. The Earth Walk commenced from the Vatika Towers in Gurgaon at 7.00 am on 28th March 2009 to the round-about in Sector 56, Gurgaon, where the participants took the Earth Pledge for the adoption of sustainable practices and “Vote Earth”. Many prominent schools and Resident Welfare Associations as well as corporate houses are expected to participate in this event.
The Earth Hour has been transformed into the world’s first global election between Earth and Global Warming. People of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote – switching off your lights is a vote for Earth and keeping them on is a vote for global warming.
WWF is urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach 1 billion votes which will be presented to the world leaders at the Global Climate change Conference in Copenhagen 2009. This meeting will determine official governmental policies to take action against global warming. It is a chance for the people of the world to make their voice heard.
The MagicBricks.com - Vatika Earth Walk aimed to maximise the participation of citizens from Delhi-NCR to take the Earth Pledge and participate in the one-hour energy shutdown between 8.30 to 9.30 pm on 28th March 2009. The Walk attracted celebrities, bureaucrats, corporate citizens and most of all children. Children lead the Earth Pledge which was delivered to the rest of the participants. Children and adults signed the Earth Pledge which will be publicised by both the Vatika and The Times Group.
