Hilton Head golf courses and the Verizon Heritage PGA Golf Tournament are moving beyond the greens to promote golf tourism through social media channels, including Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
Hilton Head Island, SC, March 31, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Hilton Head golf courses and the Verizon Heritage PGA Golf Tournament are moving beyond the greens to promote golf tourism through social media channels, including Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
Golf Island, a partnership between the Lowcountry Golf Course Owners Association, the Hilton Head Chamber of Commerce Visitors & Convention Bureau and Golfer’s Guide Marketing Solutions, is hosting the Great Golf Giveaway for three weeks starting March 25 through April 13.
Golf enthusiasts can put their online tools to work and be entered for a chance to win a weekend golf getaway to Hilton Head, as well as one of three pairs of tickets to the Verizon Heritage PGA Golf Tournament April 13-19 on Hilton Head Island.
Every Wednesday, beginning March 25, participants can answer trivia questions for a chance to win a pair of tickets to the PGA Tour event. Golf Island will randomly select a winner from all entries sent by the following Friday at noon. The winner will be announced at 4 p.m. EST on that Friday.
Participants can also enter to win a chance at the weekend getaway to Hilton Head that includes two nights’ accommodations and golf at area courses. To enter, they can recruit new Facebook fans for Golf Island, “tweet” or blog about the contest, or post a video to YouTube describing why they deserve the weekend getaway. Each activity is worth from between 1 and 7 entries. The winner will be randomly selected from all the entries and announced on April 13 at 2 p.m. EST on Twitter at @GolfIsland and on the Golf Island Facebook page.
