First Investors Special Situations Fund is Top-Ten in Wall Street Journal Rankings
New York, NY, April 01, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The First Investors Special Situations Fund (FISSX) was ranked eighth in the Small-Cap Value category by The Wall Street Journal.
The Wall Street Journal ranked the top-performing funds in 16 different categories, ranked by year-to-date total returns as of February 27, 2009. Total return was measured as the change in net asset value with reinvested distributions.
Paradigm Capital Management, Inc. has served as the investment subadviser of the First Investors Special Situations Fund since March 9, 2005. Since Paradigm took over management, the Fund has outperformed more than 90% of its Lipper Small-Cap Value peers.
Robert M. Flanagan, President of First Investors Corporation, said, “While we recognize that our fund was able to beat its peers in a very difficult market environment, we believe that investors are not well served by using fund rankings in making their investment decisions, since past performance is no guarantee of future results. Our representatives base their recommendations on clients’ individual needs, not on the performance of a fund, a philosophy that we believe best serves investors in the long term.”
