Motorcycle Artist "Pimps" Victoria & Albert Tub, American-Style
Charleston, SC, April 02, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Custom motorcycle artist Harley Kegley recently expanded his talents to include transforming — of all things— a bathtub. Manufacturer Victoria & Albert Bath commissioned Kegley to paint its ios tub to showcase the paintability and American and British roots of its freestanding bathtubs.
“I painted it using the same process I use to custom paint a motorcycle, boat, guitar, or show rifle,” says Kegley, adding that this is the first bathtub “canvas” he’s tackled during his 30-year career.
Kegley’s rendition of the American flag flies on one side and the Union Jack on the other. He used a base coat of clear acrylic urethane, and a hand-cut paint mask stencil combined with a free hand for a soft edge.
Made from ENGLISHCAST™ — Victoria & Albert’s unique solid surface material – the bathtub has a smooth, paint-ready surface.
