MC2 Energy Drink Teaming up with NASCAR Nationwide Driver Casey Atwood and Team Owner Wayne Day for the O'Reilly 300 in Texas on April 4
Las Vegas, NV, April 01, 2009 --(PR.com)-- MC2 (pronounced MC Squared) Energy Drink and Beverage Plus Inc. President and CEO Ronald Serota announced today that it is teaming up with NASCAR Nationwide driver Casey Atwood and veteran team owner Wayne Day for the O’Reilly 300 on April 4th at the Texas Motor Speedway.
“I am thrilled to be racing once again for MC2 Energy Drink on April 4th at the Texas Motor Speedway,” says Driver Casey Atwood. He continues, “It will also be a great privilege to be driving for one of the legends of this great energy drink company, Alvin Serota, native of Chicago, Illinois, who is now celebrating his 75th Birthday. Al has devoted his life to his family and community service. A tribute to Alvin Serota will be prominently featured on the race car on April 4th.”
Beverage Plus and MC2 Energy Drink will pair up with team owner Wayne Day and driver Casey Atwood in the NASCAR Nationwide Series for the second time this season. Beverage Plus President and CEO Ronald Serota was proud to have his logo on the No. 05 Ford Fusion in Las Vegas for the Sam’s Town 300 earlier this year where the underdog team qualified in a respectable 17th place. Atwood was in the midst of a solid top 20 run when the new engine let go on lap 76. A rare failure by the Roush-Yates engine program, which endured a tough weekend on the Sprint Cup side as well, left Day and Atwood leaving Las Vegas wondering what might have been.
While the finish wasn’t what he had hoped for, Serota saw potential in the team and is eager to put MC2 Energy Drink back on the No. 05 car once again at Texas. Atwood is no stranger to the Dallas-Fort Worth track. The 28-year old has seven starts there, with two coming in the Sprint Cup Series and five in the Nationwide Series. In April of 2000, while making only his second start ever at the track, Atwood crossed the finish line in seventh place, driving for what was then known as Brewco Motorsports. He followed that performance with a top 10 start the following year while qualifying for his first Sprint Cup race at the Lone Star State venue, driving the No. 19 Dodge for Ray Evernham.
Atwood will be making his third consecutive start for Day Enterprises Motorsports in 2009. After Las Vegas, both driver and team made a strong showing three weeks later in Bristol, Tennessee, coming home with a top 25 finish after starting the in the back of the pack. The run in Thunder Valley will certainly give the team some momentum heading into Texas.
