Running Aces Prepares for Second Season

Columbus, MN, April 01, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Running Aces Harness Park (RAHP) guests and employees await the return of the horses when the barn area opens April 24th. The staff at RAHP is preparing for the 2009 Racing Season.

The inaugural meet drew large crowds of fans and RAHP hopes to further improve attendance throughout the 2009 race season. With more marketing dollars available and steady increases in attendance in the facilities card room, there should be more awareness of harness racing in 2009. Running Aces offers a Seafood Buffet on Friday nights that has attracted around 500 people each week. The buffet has served to increase awareness of the race track and card room.

RAHP welcomes veteran Hawthorne announcer Peter Galassi to the team. Peter will be performing a number of duties in addition to providing first class commentary for each race. There will be a concerted effort to further educate our guests in the nuances of handicapping and wagering on harness races. Peter plans to conduct handicapping seminars as well as pre-race reviews of each night’s program to help those less knowledgeable about harness racing, including RAHP employees.

Rod Newhart will be returning during the season as the Director of Racing. Newhart anticipates offering an average daily purse of $28,000 for an eight-race program. With limited stall availability, there will be ample racing opportunities for stables shipping to the track.

The 2009 season starts May 15th, 2009 in hopes of avoiding the opening day snowstorms as in 2008. The warmer weather should make the racing season more enjoyable to the racing fans. Post times will be 7:00 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Tuesdays. On Sundays racing starts at 4:00 p.m. Racing runs through August 9th.
