Michigan-Based Royal Arc Industrial Services Proudly Presents OSHA Testimony on Capital Hill

CEO and OSHA Authorized Trainer and Inspector, Rob Siemens gave sworn testimony at the OSHA Cranes & Derricks Regulation Hearing held March 17-20 at Frances Perkins Building Auditorium, U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, DC.

Detroit, MI, April 02, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The panel consisted of private and public firms in the crane industry ranging from union and non-union supporters. Royal Arc Industrial attended as the lone representatives of the state of Michigan. As a member of the National Safety Council, Rob Siemens spoke from over 20 years of industry experience and engineering knowledge backed by an unblemished company safety record never having a death, or loss of limb.

Mr. Siemens’ testimony supported Royal Arc’s position that OSHA should continue to promote the Authorized OSHA Outreach Instructors to fill the roles of instructors and to supervise testing on the local level. With the proposed regulations, small business would be essentially shut-out of the OSHA training business, which could negatively impact Royal Arc and others like them. Mr. Siemens argued, “I believe there is no one in opposition to argue that these valuable trainers are bringing safety closer to each worker that undergoes the training. The thousands of outreach instructors would also make the free market place work, competition and will keep the price down so that all companies may afford the training and certification. I believe the outreach instructors to be an extension of the government and therefore fall in part to the term government agency.” His statements were well received and achieved further discussion among the attendees and the panel during the week long hearing.

After the hearing, Mr. Siemens visited briefly with Michigan Congressman John Conyers and discussed the hearing and Michigan’s economy.

The proposed regulation regarding Cranes and Derricks is still under review and can be viewed by the docket number, 2006-0007 on www.regulations.gov.
