Nonprofit Awards $50,000 in Scholarships to College Students
The National Society of Collegiate Scholars has awarded a total of $50,000 in scholarships to 90 students at 70 schools across the country.
Washington, DC, April 03, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Times are tough, especially for college students struggling to finance their college education in a recession.
One organization is helping students ease some of the stress: The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, an honor society inviting high-achieving freshmen and sophomores, has awarded $50,000 in scholarships to NSCS members studying at 70 universities across the United States.
The scholarships include:
· $1,000 Integrity Scholarships to 10 members who, when faced with an ethical dilemma, chose to act with integrity. These scholarships were awarded during I Stand for Integrity Week, February 9-13.
· $500 Induction Recognition Awards for 80 members who showed commitment and involvement in their local NSCS chapter.
College students who have a minimum GPA of 3.4 and are in the top 20 percent of their class, are invited to join NSCS in their freshman or sophomore years. Invitees must attend college at one of the 237 universities where NSCS has a chapter.
“Our organization offers more in undergraduate scholarship dollars than any other honors organization in the country,” said Loflin. “We work to provide as much assistance to our members as we can and continue to offer new scholarships every year.”
