IPA President Gregg Steinberg was a featured speaker at the Business Civic Leadership Center (BCLC) forum, “Disaster Aid Working Conference: Business and the 2006 Hurricane Season."
Buffalo Grove, IL, July 21, 2006 --(PR.com)-- International Profit Associates (IPA-IBA) President Gregg M. Steinberg participated in the Business Civic Leadership Center (BCLC) forum, “Disaster Aid Working Conference: Business and the 2006 Hurricane Season,” in Washington, DC on July 13, 2006.
The forum identified the importance of working out protocols and mechanisms for public-private coordination and cooperation for major relief and recovery efforts in advance of major catastrophes. The discussion included aid shipments, recovery of important medical, and other family records for swift recovery with local community support.
Featured speakers included Bob Lane, Chairman and CEO, Deere & Company and Michael G. Morris, Chairman, President, and CEO, American Electric Power. They addressed The Central American and Mexico Hurricane Relief Fund which is the nationwide private sector led, White House supported partnership to raise $5 million in private donations for reconstruction in Central America and Southern Mexico. The Fund is in response to the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season which brought an unprecedented 13 storms, of which three—Stan, Beta and Gamma—ravaged the region.
Conference topics included:
-The feasibility of creating three digit assistance hotlines at the state level
-Pre-planning for post-disaster records management
-Badging and credentialing to accelerate access for disaster aid providers
-Regularized briefing schedules for disaster aid providers and other communication and coordination issues
-Donor/offer management
-Product donation shipping, logistics and warehousing management
