Walnut Creek, CA, April 02, 2009 --(PR.com)-- EcoSignWorks is to now provide earth friendly, biodegradable signs for both indoor and outdoor branding needs in Contra Costa County and the greater Bay Area.

EcoSignWorks (www.ecosignworks.com), formerly Signworks (www.signworks.net), a leading provider of signs in the Bay Area for the last 30 years, today announces they are adding environmentally responsible options to their product offerings. Some of these signs are made from recycled material, and some are 100% biodegradable. EcoSignWorks is the first of its kind in Contra Costa County to offer an environmentally responsible sign branding solution for both indoor and outdoor signage needs. It will soon be the first Green Certified sign business in Contra Costa County.

In addition to providing environmentally responsible signs for private and business use alike, EcoSignWorks presented a demo of their Duraplast Bio-Degradable Foamboard at ATT Park's Annual Media Open House, April 1, 2009. EcoSignWorks attended the debut of ATT Park’s first "Green” Concession stand.

EcoSignWorks offers three types of environmentally responsible signs:
• Duraplast Bio-Degradable Foamboard is a foamboard that breaks down within 1 to 5 years depending on disposal conditions. What results is an inert biomass residue that is harmless to the environment. Duraplast, which is made entirely from recycled paper waste and biodegradable material, is water resistant, lasting months outdoors without water encroachment. It is designed to replace polymer-based substrates that are typically used in short-term signage display and dumped to a landfill after use.
• Biobanner is a banner product that lasts as long as conventional banner material, but also breaks down within 1 to 5 years in anaerobic (no air) landfill conditions.
• Biostyrene is a third product used in sign applications, typically for real estate signage, menu boards, and for exterior and interior applications. It also breaks down within 1 to 5 years in anaerobic (no air) landfill conditions.

“I am very proud to be converting my business to what I have always really believed in – environmental sustainability. We need to each begin taking environmental responsibility with what is right in front of us.” –Richard Abbot (owner/founder)

About EcoSignWorks
Richard Abbot founded Signworks in Walnut Creek in 1980. Like many other sign companies of the time, Signworks was a solo sign painting operation. But soon, Richard’s masterly sign painting brought in numerous and steadily larger clients. The company subsequently grew to include employees and managers - and computerized in 1989. Computerization brought even more creativity and production to Signworks, and throughout the 1990’s the company continued to add high profile corporate and event clients, while steadily growing and finally moving to its current location on 3rd Ave in Walnut Creek. In 2000, Signworks became a part of the team that built and opened PacBell Park in San Francisco for the Giants, a career highlight, and a continuing client to the present. Today, Abbot and company are challenging standards by releasing environmentally conscious sign products, pursuing their passion for sustainable business, as well as meeting a growing social awareness. Signworks is changing its name to EcoSignWorks in order to represent this new commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
