From May 30 – June 6, 2009, teams representing over 50 Dayton-area businesses will compete in 15 co-ed sporting events ranging from volleyball to sack races for Ohio Special Olympics.
Dayton, OH, April 07, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Ohio Special Olympics will receive a boost from Excellence In Motivation (EIM), and over 50 other Dayton-area businesses during the Greater Dayton Battle of the Businesses event. From May 30 – June 6, 2009, teams will compete in 15 co-ed sporting events ranging from miniature golf to tug of war for Ohio Special Olympics.
Fundraising isn’t new to EIM. Located in downtown Dayton, this company of more than 150 employees takes volunteerism and participation in charitable events very seriously. In 2008, EIM’s employees raised nearly $25,000 benefiting such charities as SISCA, the Miami Valley Down Syndrome Association, March of Dimes, Helping Hands, Operation Smile, Forging Responsible Youth and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. In addition, a variety of drives are held throughout the year where toys, clothing and other items are donated to local organizations.
EIM’s Charity Committee spearheads these events, which not only raise money for local charities, but also give employees a chance to give back to their communities and have a little fun at the same time. In 2008 the annual “Evening Under the Stars” event was held at Benham’s Grove in Centerville, benefiting SISCA. Each ticket holder received a canvas tote filled with food, wine, Esther Price chocolates and a gemstone from Jaffe Jewelers. Participants enjoyed a live jazz band, an outdoor movie, tasty grilled cuisine and a silent auction with donated items ranging from iPods to luxury travel packages. This event has continued to grow each year and 2009 promises to be an exciting one.
“EIM is fortunate to have such a caring and giving group of employees,” said Bob Miller, President and CEO of EIM. “Giving back to the community is very important at EIM. Our associates participate in a number of charity events throughout the year, and we’re really looking forward to the Battle of the Businesses!”
EIM’s Greater Dayton Battle of the Businesses team includes 24 associates who must participate in at least two events. All events are held at local gyms and sports venues and are expected to be well attended in support of Ohio Special Olympics.
