Vernier Networks Doubles Quarter to Quarter Edgewall Network Access Control (NAC) Appliance Sales

Company continues dramatic growth in network access control market with a 45% increase in customers, new technology partnerships, introduction of new product line and expanded partner program.

Mountain View, CA, July 26, 2006 --(PR.com)-- http://www.verniernetworks.com - Vernier Networks,  the leading provider of Network Access Control (NAC) products designed to ensure network endpoint compliance, has announced that the company experienced extensive growth in the first quarter of the year, doubling sales of its EdgeWall 7000 product line from the previous quarter and expanding the current customer base to 850. The company also added a significant number of new and expanded customer installations, engaged in numerous partnerships, rolled out a new product line, and developed a new partner program to accommodate the high demand for network access control (NAC) products.

“The network access control market is gaining momentum and customers are seeing a need to protect both internal and external threats in the network,” said Chris Christiansen, program vice president for IDC's Security Products and Services. “Vernier Network’s EdgeWall combines performance, capabilities and flexibility in a single platform to provide network access control for comprehensive security.”

With over 45% quarter over quarter growth in new and expanded customer installations, Vernier Networks continued to add marquis names to its customer roster, including MetroNational, a real estate investment, development and management company. Sales into existing customers proved to be quite strong, with many customers extending their Vernier Networks deployments.

“Network access control is essential to organizations that want to achieve a new level of insight and control over the activities on their network, but there are few reliable solutions in the market that can do that,” said Frank Rodriguez, Network and Information Security Manager for University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. “We selected Vernier Networks because the EdgeWall product combines all essential network access control functions in one simple solution.”

Vernier Networks also unveiled a technology partnership program designed to support an extensive ecosystem of integrated and interoperable solutions. Current members include Cavium Networks, Extreme Networks, ManageSoft, PatchLink and Network Intelligence. Vernier Network’s technology partnership with Network Intelligence was launched in May and enables enterprises to gain deep, network-security insight and capture rich access-control data to ensure network compliance.

In May, Vernier Networks also introduced its new EdgeWall 8800 platform which utilizes Cavium Networks’ Octeon™ Multi-Core MIPS64 processors to deliver a high-performance network access control solution with extensive layer 2-7 protection capabilities. Purpose-built from the ground up for the most demanding enterprise network environments, the EdgeWall 8800 is the first network access control product to deliver wire-speed authenticated and validated access to all users throughout the network, and then inspect and protect user traffic from security threats and malicious behavior with a fully integrated Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) engine.

The company also extended the functionality of the EdgeWall 7000 series of network access control products. Using configuration templates and pre-defined access policies, IT administrators can have EdgeWall up and running in as few as five simple configuration settings. As a result, Vernier Networks has cut the average installation time by as much as 75 percent. By including Layer 3 support, Vernier Networks added deployment and enforcement options to the EdgeWall 7000 that significantly reduce the risk of security threats and intrusions from external devices and limit access to sensitive assets.

Demonstrating the strong support for Vernier Networks and the NAC market, Rod Murchison joined Vernier as vice president of marketing after leaving his previous post at Juniper Networks. With more than 14 years of security and networking experience, Murchison served as the senior director of product management for security and edge routing products and was the driving force behind expanding Juniper’s security products portfolio.

“As enterprises realize the need for network access control as an integral part of their security plan, we are continuing to recognize tremendous growth and interest in our NAC solutions,” said Simon Khalaf, chief executive officer for Vernier Networks. “Our technology innovation and existing customer deployments only fuel our leadership position in this space. With continued commitment to our customers and further market adoption, it’s clear that there is no stopping us in this space.”
