Laughing Out Loud Kids Unveils Fall/Winter ’09 Collection

Pinpointed as one of the most exciting newcomers to the children’s wear market last year by top industry critic James Girone, Laughing Out Loud Kids follows up with a second season assured to keep the momentum going. “The initial response I received was so great, I felt obligated to design a new collection that exceeded my spring line,” says designer Mila Cole, who is expanding beyond sizes 0 to 6 years in response to customer demand.
“I’ve been listening closely to my customers,” Cole says, noting her inspiration also came from her son’s recent pirate obsession and his “girlfriend’s” love of princesses—themes that can be seen in a swashbuckling boys’ pea coat and a bubble-sleeve jacket for girls. Cole also offers imaginative yet fashion-forward silhouettes, including tiered-ruffle dresses, bell-sleeve tops, ruffled leggings, collared shirts and comfy pants. The fall line features trendy color blocking and a palette consisting of bright primary shades and sophisticated grays. Meanwhile, a new group of striped, snap-leg bodysuits for infants offers funky, unisex color combinations.
Cole not only takes fashion cues from the colorful culture of her native Peru (think bright colors and bold patterns), she also looks to the South American country to source her fine Pima cottons, which give her collection ultra-soft comfort that kids love and quality that parents can trust.
Laughing Out Loud Kids, which already promotes social responsibility by employing single mothers, plans to strengthen its commitment to the community by supporting children’s causes this fall.
The new collection will be sold through Wendy’s Closet in LA, Debbie Miller Showroom in Atlanta and in select boutiques across the nation.
