Philadelphia, PA, April 07, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Announcement of the scheduled release of book, Pieces of the Quilt: The Mosaic of An African American Family. This is the second book written by Author Anita Wills. Her first book, Notes and Documents of Free Persons of Color, is a Non-Fiction book, and for sale through Barnes & Noble and Amazon.com. Pieces of the Quilt, is a narrative of the Authors’ family history that expands beyond America's borders. Although the family is African American, their lines connect in England, throughout Europe, Africa and to Native Americans.

Starting in Coatesville Pennsylvania the author introduces her mother, who shares their family history with her children. The stories she tells are about African Americans who were mixed raced Native, white, African, but tabled as Colored. In 1978, mother and daughter make a pact to research and document their family history.

In Pieces of the Quilt Ms. Wills chronicles her ancestors like, Elijah Johnson who was the architect of Monrovia Liberia. He is Ms. Wills' direct ancestor, eight times removed. Besides settling Monrovia Liberia, Elijah Johnson also fought in the War of 1812, and was a Member of the American Colonization Society.
The book also covers Native, African relationships, before the various laws to seperate the groups. The Native Americans chronicled in Ms. Wills’ book are her ancestors who intermarried with blacks and whites. The book describes the tribes that occupied the Great Valley in Eastern Pennsylvania some of whom were decimated by War, disease, and removal.

Pieces of the Quilt, is a book that is suitable for a General Audience. The scheduled release date is May of 2009.
